Energy Systems and Energy Economics

A lack of public acceptance and ever-increasing investment risks for large power station projects have led to an investment backlog in the European energy sector since the 1990s. At the same time, the ageing infrastructure of the European power station market is forcing a rapid transformation of the electricity sector, towards the further expansion of renewable energies and the steadily increasing interconnection of increasingly decentralised generation structures.
Through the analysis of electricity and gas markets, agent-based simulations and active participation in international and interdisciplinary research networks, the Chair of Energy Process Engineering makes an active contribution to the assessment of technical and economic risks associated with new energy technologies within the context of the energy sector.
