Grids

New concepts for smart grids are being developed in the grid and infrastructure research area. The focus is on complete systems as well as on components, products and applications, especially for innovative and complex power electronics. Depending on the requirements, we perform high-voltage tests, material tests, simulations, demonstrator tests and prototype developments.

Electrical Grids - Video

What happens to the energy system when large power plants with rotating masses are phased out? What innovative equipment is needed to ensure a secure, economical, and environmentally sustainable energy supply? See for yourself how future transmission and distribution network structures are being planned at EnCN and what key role power electronic components play. Or explore the interaction of various storage technologies in the hybrid microgrid and energy storage laboratory.
