Mesoscale burner array for hydrogen rich fuels
– achieving high power density, fuel flexibility, and low emissions through additive manufacturing im Rahmen des SPP 2419 “HyCAM“
The aim of this project is to develop design principles for a 1 kW burner nozzle tailored to fuel-flexible operation with hydrogen and hydrogen-rich fuel mixtures. Additive manufacturing is the key technology in this context. It enables transformative capabilities in burner design that are tailored to the specific combustion properties of hydrogen.
Within the project, numerous nozzle geometries are being designed and tested, and the most suitable ones are being comprehensively characterised using optical measurement methods.
The findings gained in this project form the basis for the design of burners for a wide range of applications, and the investigations are currently being extended to include the use of ammonia.
