Since the founding of the Nuremberg Energy Campus in 2011, the Chair of Energy Process Engineering (EVT) at Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, located in the heart of Nuremberg, has been working on new technologies and concepts for the energy transition and a carbon-neutral energy supply. The chair’s national and international research projects focus on thermochemical and biological processes for the sustainable production of electricity, heat, and renewable energy sources from green hydrogen and biogenic feedstocks; energy economics studies on price formation in electricity and gas markets; and advanced storage technologies such as Carnot batteries.
