KIguss
The collaborative project is specifically focused on optimizing processes in iron casting. Since foundries face intense pressure from international competition due to high energy and raw material prices, the project aims to manufacture particularly high-performance cast iron components in an energy- and material-efficient manner, while also increasing resource conservation. A key component of this effort is the development of AI-based image processing software for microstructure analysis and the innovative expansion of a casting process simulation to create a data-driven AI module for predicting component properties.
As the world’s fifth-largest producer of castings, foundries in Germany must contend with rising energy and raw material prices and the challenges of climate change in the face of international competition. The “KIguss” project is helping to address these challenges.
