Staedtler Project Future Stove

The FutureStove project is developing an extremely low-emission combustion system for wood-burning stoves. It aims to drastically reduce the environmentally and health-damaging emissions from log-burning stoves, such as soot, smoke and odours, which to date have mainly been addressed through secondary measures such as electrostatic precipitators.

The project is working on a primary solution. Among other things, staged combustion – as established, for example, in wood gasification boilers and large-scale plants – is being consistently adapted and applied to very small-scale systems. A particular challenge here is the appearance of the flame, which is relevant for subsequent user acceptance. The project will demonstrate the basic feasibility of the concept. This will serve as the basis for further projects to develop the system to market maturity through industrial collaboration.
