As part of the E|MPOWER project (Efficient Modularization of Inductive Power Transmitters in Heavy-Duty Transportation), automated manufacturing and implementation processes for an Electric Road System (ERS) are being investigated. In addition to CP4GE, the consortium consists of the following partners: the ELSYS Institute (Nuremberg Tech), VIA IMC, Electreon, Risomat, and the consortium leader, the FAPS Institute (FAU).
The project involves the integration of Electreon’s wireless ERS technology on a 1-kilometer-long section of the A6 highway in northern Bavaria. This ERS is an inductive charging technology that is integrated directly into the roadway and enables contactless energy transfer to moving and stationary vehicles.
Together with the ELSYS Institute, the research group is investigating a loss model for the ERS. The joint project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action under grant code 01MV22020A as part of the “Elektro-Mobil” program and is supported by Deutsche Autobahn GmbH.
